The 1200 sqft apartment lends itself over to 2 floors, efficiently setting apart the men's den from the common family space. The entrance at the first level faces the stairway leading to the Men's den. While the rest of the spaces preserves an open layout where the living leads to the dining and the peninsular kitchen which was precisely incorporated due to a specific vaastu requirement. As an ode to the love of vernacular prints of the homemaker we embodied little elephant motifs to commemorate the Kanchipuram block printing technique and mounted beautiful hand painted canvas of elephants from the Ajanta and Ellora caves. Set against a neutral base, an assemblage of different wall textures are used across the walls and added pops of colour to the space. The rooms are in contrast to the neutral common space, each of which has a definite color and concept theme with varied finishes that brings a sense of character into the space.
